Hello, I'm Dr. Carolyn J. Hildreth

I am a Medical Coach and am better known as Dr. Carolyn to my health and wellness patients.

Over the past 21 years I've helped many people with multiple illnesses stay healthy by creating a wellness lifestyle.

I’ve had a solo Internal Medicine practice in Baltimore, Maryland for 13 years, where I offer my patients “practical medicine” by heavily integrating my interest and knowledge of nutrition and exercise as they relate to health and wellness.

My focus is on educating patients in health and wellness, but particularly in the areas of nutrition and exercise.  As it has recently come to light that obesity is fast overtaking cancer as the number two cause for death in the USA.

I'm a Certified Integrative Yoga Teacher, and also have a Certificate in Life Coaching.  My on-going reading and studies are on “alternative” health related practices. This includes attending conferences and seminars on topics such as:

  • Traditional chinese medicine
  • Mindfulness based stress reduction
  • Traditions of yoga and ayurveda
  • Meditation
  • Integrating complementary medicine into traditional practice

The growing awareness that health and wellness involves the mind as well as the body is a primary reason why I attend these and similar conferences.

I wrote a chapter in “Health Issues in the Black Community”, a medical reference manual.  I contributed to the chapter on "Hypertension in Blacks."  And have also published several articles in the Journal of the National Medical Association, and the Consultant Journal.

My undergraduate medical training was at the University of Illinois, Abraham Lincoln School of Medicine, and in 1985 I completed specialty training in Internal Medicine at the Cook County Hospital in Chicago, Illinois.  After two years of private practice in the Cabrini Green community, I moved to Baltimore to take an academic position in the Division of Hypertension at the University of Maryland, where I conducted clinical trials in hypertension for two years before opening my private practice.
